For this project we did a drawing that took about 3 weeks. First, we chose a magazine cut out to design an image around. After we knew what we wanted to draw, we found color matches on scrap paper to blend the cut out with the rest of the drawing. After spending some time layering shades and adding different colors, the drawing was finished. Overall, I liked ending the year with this project and I think it was really creative and fun.
Dream House Project
For this project we designed our dream homes in a perspective of our choice. First we learned how to draw in first, second, and third perspective. Secondly, we designed the interior of our houses and scaled them. After that we chose which perspective to do our house in and designed the exterior. We added details and shading to finish it. All together, I wasn’t the biggest fan of my house, but the project was great practice for drawing in perspective.
Impressionism Painting
For this project we did our own take on an impressionist painting. Firstly, we made a sketch so we could have an idea of what we wanted to paint. After that we slowly added onto the painting starting with the background and working our way to the forefront. We worked with different painting techniques to produce a unique outcome.
Alebrijes
For this project we are working with clay to make alebrijes. First we began with a sketch for our alebrije. After that we began forming the clay by first making the body, then the head, and finally adding body parts. We ended with some final details and fired the clay pieces in the kiln. Once they were out of the kiln we painted them with bright colors. Overall the project was pretty fun to do.
Self Portrait
This project was for a self portrait drawing based off of a picture. We learned step by step how to draw the features of the face and make them look cohesive.
Close Up Value Drawing
For this project we did an up close value drawing. First we chose a picture to draw and then we scaled it to the size of our paper. We focused on using different techniques to add value to our sketches. It wasn’t too hard of a project but we took our time on it.
Sketch Books
This week we made sketchbooks for our future drawings. First we made our signatures, then we bound fabric to cardboard for the base of our books. After that we added our end pages, then attached our signatures to the book. Lastly I personalized the front of my cover and then it was finished.
Masks
For this project I hand sewed a mask. I used a template and a rotary cutter/ scissors to cut out the fabric. Then, I sewed along the edge of the fabric leaving a 1/4’’ seam allowance. It wasn’t terribly difficult to make and I’m actually pretty happy about how it turned out for my first mask.
